I am studying the transcriptomic response of disease in the Caribbean branching coral Acropora palmata.
Research Focus: I am studying the transcriptomic response of disease in the Caribbean branching coral Acropora palmata. Through the use of NGS methodologies I am trying to identify the core immune pathways which could underlie disease resistance or susceptibility. I hope to be able to develop a putative disease-based biomarker for this species that could be implemented in the restoration projects heavily underway in the Caribbean.
Hobbies: Football (soccer), guitar, golf, cooking, whiskey
Favorite animal (besides coral): THE BURROWING OWL
