Germ-Free Nematostella Project

Anthony began a project this semester using antibiotics to get rid of bacteria residing within the starlet sea anemone, Nematostella. Nematostella is a model organism commonly used to study metazoan evolution, innate immunity, and development. These bacteria-free anemones will be used in future immunology experiments focused on the role of the microbiome.
